Spinner

Featured Replies

Has anyone made spinners using gulp minnows before. I do a lot of fishing for big browns and have luck with spinners and with the gulp minnows. I dont know if I could make an inline spinner with a gulp that would produce. Thanks in advance for any help.

Make up a couple with a single hook, thread on a minnow and give it a shot. Sounds similar to an old Mepps I used to have that had a little rubber minnow on the back.

Renosky makes a really good bait for what you are describing, it is called their sonic swing minnow and comes in three different sizes. I have had a lot of luck using gulps as well so i bought one of the "live" containers and put the spinners in it over night for scent and just clean off the blade in the morning. I get it in rainbow colored and use it on Lake Taneycomo here in MO and have had a lot of luck with it! You are going to want to have the ability to weigh it down, which is pretty easy, and I like to put a little adhesive on it to prevent the soft plastic from sliding off after multiple fish. Good luck!

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat all day and drink beer.

Like Scott said thread you minnow onto a single hook so it sits straight then attach the hook by split ring to your inline spinner bait. If your inline spinner baits have a hook attached without a split ring just cut the hook off & then attach a split ring to the ring on the shaft end. You can use any inline spinners you already have.

This has always been my problem with any plastic minnows on inline spinners -- I've never been satisfied with the look while swimming - doesn't take much of a twist or a bunching or a kink to make the whole thing rather silly looking

A few I've made a few years ago that are still in my tackle box and get used. The pics do not have a minnow trailer, but I do use them. Easy to make and fairly cheap.
