Line Question

Featured Replies

I am used to the sensitivity of my 15lb Flurocarbon. However, I change line a lot and it's a little costly. What line should I use to get just as good sensitivity as Flurocarbon, without using Flurocarbon or braid? Thanks!!

Pline makes a pretty inexpensive yet strong copalymer (exuse my spelling) that is a great choice.

However, I change line a lot

Why?

FC should last a while under most conditions.  What FC are you using?

A good alternative would be YoZuri Hybrid but not as sensitive and does not last as long as most FC.  It is pretty good line for the price.

You can get Gander Mountain or Bass Pro Shop mono pretty cheap. It has good feel, not great but if you change line a lot I would say oh for it.

Rather than replace your line, you can just replace the 60yrds. or so that is used. Fill the base of your spool with cheap mono and the rest with your favorite fluorocarbon.  When it comes time to replace it, you'll only need 60yrds. Depending on the size of the spool you purchase, you should be able to do this at least two times.

I do what papa joe does, a lot cheaper just to change out the casting length.  However I have also switched over almost exclusively to Yo-Zuri Hybrid - its UV and water resistant so I can usually get 2 years with it as a main line.  I just reverse it after a year and use the other end in year 2.  Has worked great and is very cost effective.

^^^^^ this.
