Just getting in to bass fishing (over the last two months) and really have the FEVER!  Been doing a lot in some Plantation and Ft Lauderdale canals....biggest fish I've caught is 3lbs.  Don't have a boat, so I've been doing all my fishing from the shore.  Would like to hook up with anyone that has a boat so I can catch something bigger.  Anyone need someone to go fishing with?  I will gladly help with gas and any other costs.  Thanks in advance.

Welcome to BR, you will see numerous South FL BR members on here. My advice to you being a bass fishing rookie and new member is to stick around for a while. Get to know the members. Get to know the site, read the articles and watch the video's to improve your skills and when your time comes and a member invites you on their boat, you will be better versed in catching bass. Who knows, you may even break your PB record in the process from the bank. You will be surprised how very nice bass can be caught from the bank. Lastly, you provided a descent  intro, work on your profile and provide more info if you will like other's to take notice and possibly invite you on their boat. Find a local bass fishing club and join it.

I'm sure you won't have any trouble getting a ride as a co-angler.

Most clubs don't require any skill level.

Second on joining a bass club. I had a boat when I joined a bass club  , but went as a non-boater the first three tournaments just to get the feel for it .

Although I am from Canada,I would also agree to join a club,we have a few up here and anyone who is passionate about bass fishing would not mind having someone tag along regardless of skill set,

I myself,before I got my boat did the same and now I return the favor a few times a year,best(and maybe worst)thing about it was having a fella with very little experience land a bigger one than me a few years back(kidding)it was worth it to see the smile and even better knowing he was hooked(pun intended) we keep in touch and he is still bass fishing but now has a small boat of his own out on the water whenever time permits,like the rest of us

Welcome to BS.... While I'm not seasoned I'll share a few tips with you that helped me get to where I am.

1. Have confidence... We get skunked at times or very to little fish, but have confidence in what your doing and using.

2. When trying a lure you want to get better with, bring that lure with you and only that lure. It forces you to use it all day and get used to it.

3. Take in info and focus one thing at a time. If you try to go out and do plastics, swim baits, jerk bait, spinners ext you'll be scatterbrained and get frustrated. I still ha e so much to learn and and two years later in finally developing patterns on a consistent basis.

4. Since your a bank guy like me fan cast and alternate your retrieves and if there's structure your think fish are set up on.... Hit it from multiple angles. Remember bass set up to ambush prey. So one angle may not be what's he wants while another is. It also may take multiple casts to and object to finally get a bite.

5. When you reel in your lure of choice learn what it feels like.... If you feel you lose contact with it. Sometimes that sudden lose of contact or disturbance is a fish.remember hook sets are free.... Not fish.

Thanks guys. I have gone to a couple bass club meetings and look forward to joining and competing in some tournaments.  Went on my first boat outing last weekend and had a great time.....much better than walking the bank.

I bought a Bote Ahab to get me all kinds of places where feet or even most boats can't go. That's a paddleboard in case you didn't know.

Rhino, thought about getting a ksyak, but want something bigger......something to stand in.....for two people.

I've been fortunate as I haven't seen a gator or snake of any kind thus far walking the banks.

I can understand why this was said. However, if you study your surroundings you will eliminate coming across any of nature's threats. I bank fish a lot in South FL and I have yet in my 30 + yrs of fishing faced any real danger in the reptilian variety. That being said, I fish areas where I can minimize my chances of surprising one of these creatures. I want them to see me first and quietly leave rather than walking up on one and surprising them.
