Hello folks,

I have been reading this website for a few weeks and I figure it was past due to introduce myself.  My name is Jeremy and I have only been largemouth bass fishing for a few months.  I grew up smallmouth bass fishing in the streams in the Midwest.  I an now located in Louisiana and fish a variety of waters.  Looking forward to purchasing a bass boat this week and upgrade from my '76 trolling motor only boat!!!

Welcome to the forums.  From your profile it appears that you live in the Monroe area.  Have you fished Caney Lake yet?  Six of the top ten Louisiana record large-mouth bass were caught in that lake.  Tragically, the fishery was completely destroyed about fifteen years ago due to the introduction of (I've heard) 20,000 grass carp.  Luckily the carp were sterile and have now died off, so the fishery is making a real come-back.  I fished it about three years ago with three of my buddies.  The largest we caught went about six pounds.

Welcome to the Forum.

You will find that Louisiana's slogan "Sportsmen's Paradise" is no joke.

There are many wonderful places to fish in the Pelican state so please keep us posted on your adventures.

And remember the secret to catching more Louisiana bass: wear purple and gold and yell "Geaux Tigers!" when you set the hook.

Unfortunately I have not been to Caney yet.  I hear a lot of great things about it!  Up until recently I had been fishing in a '76 Terry fiberglass boat with only a trolling motor.  Hopefully within the week I will be purchasing a bass boat with 115HP outboard. This should make those larger lakes now realistic for me!
