Fluid Bed Construction???

Featured Replies

I am making a fluid bed for jigs, spinner baits, etc.  Can anyone tell me what the best material to use for the porous membrane is?  Thanks in advance!!

brown paper bag

Vaccum bag

coffee filter

its dependent on powder brand.  I use the paper bag but probably try the vaccum bag next.

I use brown paper bag

We had thought about the coffee filter,  but the vac. bag sounds like it would work real well.  We'll try both and see which is better for us.

With the brown bag, do you have to poke small holes in it or anything.  Is it porous enough?

Thanks

GMan is correct not all powder paints will work with all membrane media. You may have to try several different type of membrane material, and have several different cups dedicated for certain colors. Allergy pillow cases work also.

I use coffee filters mostly, inexpensive so you can throw them away an dclean up the cup for the next color run, I like the vaccum bag though might have to give that a try and see what happens

umm what is a fluid bed

A fluid bed is a container that holds powder paint and then fluidizes powder paint by the use of forced air. So if you are painting lots of lead jigs, it will speed up the process for you, and will put on a thin even coat of paint.
