So I've made my mind up on a swimbait rod (TBC710HF). Max weight ill probably use is about 3oz for lures. Whatbsize shimano reel should I get and what would be a good line size to spool it with?

the curado 300/301e are awesome if  you can find a good used one.  sometimes you can find some deals on them too.

I have the tbc710hf with a Calcutta 300d and 20lb CXX. It's great for anything I've tied on including 8 inch savage line through swim baits and down to spinnerbaits that may have been an ounce total. Why are you going with the punchin rod instead of the swimbait rod?

Ya, I ment the 710 swimbait rod.

I HATE ROUND REELS.

So, if you are like me a Curado 300 would be the choice in the more "modern" line up. For swimbaiting I have a Citica 200DSV spooled with 17 lbs Big Game.

300 Curado or Cardiff is are both good swimbait reels that will handle what you're wanting to throw.

Actually use a 200 curado e with that rod, 20lb fluro/mono

Have a 301e, it's just too big for me to use but it's still a very nice reel, looking to get rid of it.
