Slip Shot / Split Shot Rig : Braid Or Fc Line ?

For those of you that throw the above rig - do you prefer straight 6lb. - 8lb. FC line or 10lb. - 15lb. braid then FC or copolymer line leader ?

ME ME ME!

FC Leader.

I use a leader on every combo I have, except three. Two of them have straight fluoro for weightless plastics, or light trigs. One has copoly, and it's a top water setup. I throw the split shot rig on my spinning rod, or ml casting setup. Both are spooled with #10 braid. I tie on a #6-8 leader of yozuri. Hope that helps some.

I use the red Cajun line for a leader.

This is what I choose, and the reasons why:

So , I take it on a slip shot rig you tie a length of co-poly line onto the #10lb. braid , then peg a mojo weight on the co-poly line followed by hook and soft plastic ? So basically just two knots right ?

Thanks also Glenn ! ... My (problem ?) current setup is a Shimano 2500 series spinning reel with #10lb. braid on it already .... I want to see if I can tie on  the braid to a 7' length of #6lb. P-Line Fluoroclear (double uni) then peg a mojo weight followed by a thin wire worm hook and 4" cut tail worm ... Although a dedicated co-poly line rod & reel set up would be more simplistic - I should (hopefully) get by with the above set up .

None of them, for the light splitshotting 6lb Trilene XT rules !  :respect-059:

Agree with Raul.. Mono or copoly works just fine

Raul : You left out a zero - for split shotting Mexico bass you use 60lb. test mono !!

Give a try, lots of anglers use light braid with a mono or FC leader for both drop shot and split shot rigs.

Your hook is very important, needs to be light wire Owner 5100, 5133* or Gamakasu 49110, size 1 for the small finesse worms.

I prefer 1 knot at the hook, for this reason I don't use braid.

Tom

* I use the 5133 very strong light wire and sharp hook.

for mojo rigs , i always use a main line ( flourocarbon) with the weight pegged and a Owner rig n hook in 3/0 for trick worms . i throw this rig on my spinning set up ..
