What's been going on down there lately. Haven't got a chance to get down there in a year or so but got some time to head down this Wednesday thru Sunday. We are staying just south of the village of 4 seasons. What baits are working, what time of day, etc. thx, and tight lines JD

Black buzzbaits and jigs have been working for me early in the mornings. As soon as the sun is up I can get lucky sometimes with spinnerbaits or throwing a Texas rig and pumpkin colored worm. Usually really tough for me to catch anything during the day. Hope this helps. If you find other colors that work or rigs that work let me know. Good luck to you.

Usually this time of year during the morning I'd do like the above post says and throw buzzbaits and bladed jigs around and behind docks. Make sure you fish the cables and walk ways. As the sun gets high I'd be fishing a football jig, big worm, or beaver bait on a rocker head probing brush piles in the 15-20 FOW range. Keep your eyes peeled for "fishing docks". Most people fish the brush that is right under the dock, but I've had best luck and caught my most of my biggest fish on the brush piles that most people are trolling over to fish the docks, ie; 10-20 yards in front of the dock. I'm sure you could do some damage with cranks as well, but I don't touch them. lol. 

I just got back today and it was a pretty tough 4 days of fishing. I did try the black buzzbait and that was effective but the most effective and the bait that caught me th most fish was a rapala x-rap jerkbait. I fished it on rocky shorelines and around docks and the fish were nailing it, not just the largies, but the kentuckys were hittin it too! I did try jigs but didn't catch a single fish . Also caught fish on a Texas rigged zoom trick worm but overall only caught 8 fish. 5 of those being kentuckys. Thanks for the great suggestions and helping me catch some fish! Had a ton of fun and can't wait till next year

Unfortunately no pictures. I am a bank fisherman who sometimes forgets his phone back at the resort The spots weren't anywhere as big as coty's but i did catch a pretty good one, he measured in at around 18in and was a pretty chubby fish. 4 of the 5 spots were caught on a jerkbait the other one was caught on that texas rigged trick worm. These were my first spots i had ever caught   so i was pretty happy even though these fish weren't particularly big

That was actually Connors fish and don't hang your head with an 18" spot. That's a toad

My biggest Spot is my avatar, caught during BBB. A hair shy of 3#. So fun! 

LOZ holds Table Rock sized footballs for sure. That pic above is also my pb spot at 3.25 and had a head flat like a shovel... they will just crush a jerkbait down there.

No doubt spots are a blast to catch. Hard to determine if I like spots or smallies better. They both are fighting machines!

White River fingerless fleece gloves from BPS. They're something like $7 for pair and great for winter time fishing. I keep 3 or 4 pairs in the boat and just swap them out if they get wet.

I have those and the neoprene material ones with the fold back thumb and pointer finger, Coty they are in the Fly Fishing section back by the boats. 

Was fishing there in early august and caught 90% percent of my bass on a kvd 2.5 in orange belly craw pattern. I was fishing the Big Niangua Arm.

Not that I fish LOZ a ton but not sure that I've ever seen any large areas of grass in the lake anywhere?

When are you coming? You can find some submerged grass in the Gravois but it will be dead in a month.
