and it's not like I sent it back in anything but brand new condition. I didn't even spool it with line. Just mounted it to the rod and that's it.

Ive been using one since the beginning of summer and its become my favorite. The only thing i throw with it is a frog. Its very well built and its pulled some fish out of nasty places no problem! Fin

  • I noticed a difference with the Type R myself. I like the standard Tatula and the Type R but on the water I found the Type R to be my preference and an absolute joy to fish with. The standard Tatula a

You're just lucky you didn't have an issue with anything they sent you. If you have to deal with them, well you can't, because they won't answer you. I had a problem with a reel (a preference issue), let them know, sent it back, ordered another one which was actually more expensive, like an exchange, and they still charged a 20% restocking fee. I complained, but to no avail. I got to reading through their customer feedback and some of it is pretty dismal.

Well I guess I was very lucky. Bought some other things from Amazon, that were crap and I got burned.

Yeah, it's a bummer. It's rare, though. That's why I try to buy direct from amazon when I can, but I've found a few sellers that are great to deal with.

Where are you guys getting them for $100?!?!?!

Go online "beat the big box boys" , Ron was a sponsor at one time and has good prices and customer service.

Compared to a shimano curado 200HG with same rod, line and bait, I didn't see much of a difference in casting distance using a standard Tatula. However, for pitching I think it's more effortless. Can't go wrong with either brand, like folks have stated, but I actually prefer the Tatula. My only gripe is with the finish. Got some boat rash on two of mine and I am pretty gentle with them.

I bought a tatula, even though I didn't need a new reel. I have had no regrets about buying it and it has become my favorite casting reel. It doesn't cast farther but it takes less effort when casting.
