How are you guys rigging your buzzbaits if you use a plastic trailer with a stinger hook? 

 

I use mostly zoom horny toads but have had some misses and would like to add a stinger hook but am not sure how to rig it 

so it would be effective but not catch in the legs of the toad???

 

what if you use a swimbait such as a reaction innovations skinny dipper? 

anyone?

Have you tried buzzbaiting with no trailer or stinger?  Using a black/black Cavitron I've never felt the need for addons.

If you are using the entire toad and not shortened, there is probably enough plastic toad sticking past the bend of the hook to use a treble hook instead of a regular trailer hook. I use a treble trailer hook with a piece of surgical tubing over the eye. Rig your toad or other plastic on the buzzbait first. Then put the treble on and bury one point in the plastic trailer. Now you have two hook points pointing up to hook a fish instead of just one

I don't use either.

i've always used a trailer hook on a buzzbait, even cavitrons, but don't know if they are necessary or not.  It may just help with my confidence if nothing else....

I start out with a trailer hook and if the bass are hitting it solidly I will change baits to one without . As far as plastic trailers I cant recall ever using one .

I use a trailer hook, but I do not use any plastic trailer on my buzzbaits. I have found that they can effect how true the buzzbait runs. I prefer a bait that comes in straight so I can maneuver it around weeds/structure when need be. 

I've used one or the other. The first (plastic trailer) to allow a slower presentation which all but eliminates the necessity of the trailer hook. In weeds and brush a trailer hook can spell disaster. A paddle tail trailer not only allows a slower presentation, it adds some lift to the mix also.
