Fishing Game: Fish, Ideas

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I am currently working on a Fishing game that is underway.

The game is set to be released in about a month or two. I am excited about the gameplay thus far and I really think it will be the best fishing game on the mobile market.

I just wanted to see what kind of ideas you guys had for a mobile fishing game.

I want to make it realistic as possible while still making it not TOO realistic where your average player can't enjoy it. I also don't want to make the game too serious but have a fun vibe too it. All of the graphics have been made already. And they look spectacular. and the game is about 60% done. I'll be sharing more information on this at a later point.

So I wanted to get some ideas about some the best fish to include in the game. Right now I have a list of about 40 fish that are in the game and all can be caught at different shapes, sizes(depending on your rod, bait, etc).

What are some fish types you would like to see in the game? Also list the bait the fish likes as well.

Hello Troy and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

As the name implies - gotta have Bass

After that everything else is By-Catch

Good Luck

include all the popular game fish. Make the weights realistic (ex. not a 50 pound bass) including tournaments against other people or the computer would be cool. Have a good selection of lures. Maybe include fly fishing? Have a "trophy room" for the best catches. Just a few ideas.

Make sure that whenever you hook a big fish in a tournament it turns out to be a drum...not that i'm bitter or anything :laugh5:

I have up on fishing games because all you could do is reel in and stop whatever bait you had on. I'd say allow you to shake your phone to hop and twitch a worm on the bottom. I'd also include actual baits that are on the market in different colors, sizes, weights, etc. Im not sure if that'll be a copy right issue though.

NIce thought for a winter day in front of the fireplace.  When I'm out fishing, I'm not playing with video games.

Thanks guys! You've given me some great ideas thus far!

I have about 32 fish. And majority of them are mainly main game fish.

I like the idea about the tournaments. I'll definitely try to add those modes in the game.

As far as the lures and baits, that is a great idea to make them realistic as possible. To patent issues or anything, I will have to name the baits different names probably. I will have to look into that more.

But thanks guys so far for the feedback. Keep it coming! Also if you guys want to hear more news about the game and when it is released. I'll be posting it to the my Facebook page here. I also try to update this thread as well. I'll be posting a demo there as well as soon as its ready.

Thanks so much guys. Looking for to getting more feedback!

Gotta have fresh and saltwater fish. Many types of lures. Perhaps an aquarium to grow fish and sell them for more when they are bigger. Also make sure there are plenty of quests because catching virtual fish for little to no reason can get boring. And for pete sake do NOT make the leveling sytem to tedious! (I love playing mobile games so hopefully this will help)

Also i know it would be a lot of work but for me, and i think for most people, the more species the better!

I hope any "bites" in the game use the vibration on the phone for tactile feedback!

I've tried two different fishing games that I can recall, one on iPad, and one on a Droid phone.  If you can solve what turned out to be the same problem for each, you may be on to something.....both games were insufferably boring after about five minutes.  Good luck.

Hmmmmm you may want to make it more realistic by having people tying up the boat ramps loading picnic baskets.  Or maybe weather condition could move in while on the lake for a tourney or or maybe even a jet ski going between you and the bank.  (as if this ever happens)  How bout casting into a hornets nest right over a honey hole....or spearing a big wave while going to another spot and only having one rod left.  Anyway....good luck.

Thanks guys! I've taken notes on all of your advise and plan to implement most or all of it into the new game.

Keep the ideas and recommendations coming!

Haha yes, in order to play you have to start up the game then wait for 40 minutes while some dude in a pontoon backed directly in the center of two ramps puts his truck in park and has 17 kids go take a dump while he tries (unsuccessfully) to put the top up while his wife cleans up the contents of the cooler that spilled everywhere......
