So recently I have gotten in to Bass Fishing and I believe that it is the absolute hardest place to catch bass in the U.S. I just landed my first ever Utah Bass on 8/19/15 and it wasn't to large it was a little over a pound. I mainly fish The Cove in Herriman, Sunset Pond in Draper, Oquirrh Lake, South Jordan and Lindon Marina, Utah Lake. Have any suggestion or what have you found to work plz help!

Where he came from he does have a mama, papa, cousins much bigger. What bait were u using.

A rapala original floating minnow size f7 in blue.

Slow reel or twitch it.

A rebel pop r in blue n white.

Presentation 1 twitch, 2 twitch, 3 twitch pause. Small twitches.

A 6" black plastic worm split shot rigged.

Cast it out and move it a few inches at a time. Slowly, pause it. Watch the line for movement.

Some scent doesn't hurt either.

Try searching for the top 5 or 10 bass lakes in Utah, you may be surprised that there are some very good places to bass fish.

I fished Sand Hollow over the weekend. I caught over 20 in matter a few hours of fishing. 

You should come fish some of the terrific bass lakes here in Kansas you're always hearing about! You've never heard of any of the bass lakes in Kansas? Exactly...

 

Do some internet searches on the lakes you're fishing and I'll bet you find some good information to get you pointed in the right direction. Getting started into bass fishing is a trial and error process (mostly error at first). Patience is your best friend right now. This is a tough time of year as well so don't get discouraged. I've been doing it fairly successfully for almost 30 years now and the last few weeks have been a challenge at best. 

I just got back from fishing Salem Pond in central Utah. One of my co-workers got me into bass fishing about a month ago so I don't know jack ... Anyway, I went down there this morning and putzed around for a little bit. Ended up catching my first bass. Pulled him out with a shaky head rig.

A Utah bass fishing thread!!! This is a a relief! I'm up in Logan and have put time in at Montua, Pineview, Hyrum, and Newton. Tough fishing. Hope to get as much info as I can on how to get a better perspective on these bodies of water. 

I'm headed down to Sand Hollow to fish this coming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Sand Hollow and Quail Creek kick butt. Gunlock, Utah Lake, Pelican, and Recapture are nothing to shake a stick at either. Starvation is good for smallies and walleye, and Jordanelle has both big smallmouth and largemouth, though the fishery has suffered in recent years. Flaming Gorge is probably the best smallie fishery in the state, and Powell is always good for numbers of smallies and nice largemouth.

 

If I had to pick one though, it would be Sand Hollow, followed by Quail Creek and Pelican.

I'm hoping to crush the bass on spinnerbaits, topwater frogs/poppers at Sand Hollow this weekend! One more day of work and college classes, then I'm gone!

If you want to drive, I can say from experience that sand hollow is well worth the trip. This year I plan on focusing on a few central Utah lakes, like pelican, jordanelle, and Utah lake itself.

Sorry to revive this thread, but has anyone fish Ivins Reservoir?

BTW, http://www.krakenbass.com/ has been invaluable for me. He goes all around Utah and slays bass.

Just pray he doesn't discover your honey hole, or the hordes of Utah "outdoorsman" with sleeveless shirts and hooks in their hats will relentlessly pursue filling their buckets with dinner and driving off in their smoke-spewing late 90s model Dodge diesels!

I've got nothing really helpful to add. Haven't been on the forum for a while and saw this thread, being a bass angler in Bountiful it seemed appropriate to chime in.

Like the others, my best bass days have been at Sand Hollow. Its like the bass want to be caught. Actually going again in about a month. The waters here in the northern part of the state are usually much more hit or miss. Usually miss. If there is a pattern on any given day for bass up here, it has eluded us. Sometimes I think there may only be 5 or 6 bass in some lakes.

These are my waters too. Looking for other people who fish them as well because they certainly can be tough to fish. 

 

East Canyon and Rockport reservoir are great for Smallies. Williard Bay has some decent largemouth, striped and wipers but the the place has been trash in the recent years. Daybreak is pretty decent spot for a neighborhood pond.

I hesitated naming my honey hole but im leaving for Ohio in a few months so... I'm willing to take some of the Logan/Weber County folks to a honey hole located in the area that has not been listed on this thread. Shoot me a message and we can plan a day. It is required that you find your own PWC! This place has very little shore access. Floating tubes work best but I also use a kayak.
