I've found the LT's to be a tad heavier than your average. Not necessarily the blank but specifically the reel seat and handle area. I think it might have to do with the metal caps around the seat and cork. Other than that I love 'em they're sensitive and have great power for their ratings. Impeccable St. Croix craftsmanship and a all around great workhorse of a rod.

I really like the Champions for moving baits, not my first choice for bottom contact baits though. They are well made and balance very well. No experience with the LT's. (sorry just saw you want input from those who have used both.)

Reel seat/comfort-Dobyns

Blank-St. Croix. It isn't leaps and bounds better but SCIV is a good blank. 

Taper-St. croixs are faster

Power-4 power dobyns=St. Croix MH

Build quality-wash

I've used both rods and agree with iabass8's comments. Not sure where the OP is going with this query but if you're acquiring only 1 or 2 rods then it's a tossup. If you're replacing all your rods then I'd go with Dobyns. To me, spot on rod actions and powers for all bass fishing applications.

Ooooh good thread. I have 2 Ltb's and 2 Champions. Both are great rods, I will give my nod to the Champions. They balance much better than the LTB's

I've never used either, but I have repaired a Dobyns.  Never a St Croix.  The Dobyns cork foregrip was coming apart.  Not great data, I admit.  But I was not impressed with the workmanship of the Dobyns.

i have stated earlier in other threads that i look at a lot of different rods while in the local tackle shop , that being said , dobyns rods have quite a few flaws in their workmanship . St. Croix , always built like it was done by a custom rod builder ...

I think this thread was awesome, I know a lot of folks don't like Dobyns for their lack of sensitivity (I don't agree) but that's all good! The whole workmanship is not something I hear much though.

With the cork maybe they just meant the grip on the rod overall.

OP: I'm sure by this time your decision has already been made on a rod.
