When will this senseless violence stop. My condolences to the families of the fallen victims.

It will never stop. People are just going to have to come to the realization that we can't control evil people, whether it's hoping to find out before it happens, or trying to over control the tools some of these pukes use to commit these crimes.

RIP to Alison Parker and Adam Ward.

Sadly, you're right. It won't stop, scary enough the violence keeps escalating. Now its spilling over in all aspects of our lives. Schools, Universities, Movie Theaters, and now Live TV. Crazy!!

Yup. This, the State Trooper, all the Ferguson ridiculousness.... I don't want to live on this planet anymore.... Can somebody please find fishable water on another planet!

I wouldn't say it's escalating. There's more media coverage now than ever so you'll see it more.

And that's the irony in this Virginia tragedy...  the way the media overplays/sensationalizes/dwells on this type of thing is the very reason some of the freaks commit these kind of crimes: to become "famous."

Shoot your television,

Seems to have been racially motivated, or at least that's how the media is portraying it.

Waiting for the ensuing riots to begin....

Violent crime in this country has been dropping for 25 years, dont let the sensationalism of the 24 hr news stations fool you. Yes its terrible but giving these idiots attention is exactly why they are doing it.

I don't anticipate any riots coming out of this. We don't tend to see very many Caucasian riots from shootings involving the shooter being of a different race.

Actually the narrative I'm hearing is finger pointing towards guns and mental health.

This was a planned hate crime. Where's Sharpton?

You're probably correct that it was racially motivated. However, it was a black guy shooting two white people. I don't think there will be riots. Unless they portray the shooter as the victim here...  :Idontknow: Anyway it's tragic. My prayers go out to the victim's family's. Especially Adam's fiancee, that was sad.

My thoughts exactly.

it is crazy and what is more crazy is the public's reaction to it all.  he taped it and the videos are being posted everywhere.  Have some decency people and don't forward or share that crap.  It doesn't help anything any only serves to desensitize people even more to the brevity of the situation.

I pray that the family can find peace somehow in all of this over time.

This the first thought I had as soon as I saw it.

Crime has steadily gone down since the mid 90's. The FBI statistics bear that out.

As to why it seems to be going up?

24 hour news cycles, social media, and now almost everyone has a video recorder (cell phone) with them at all times.

I'm certainly not saying that there aren't places with higher crime rates than others,

Ultimately, each person is responsible for protecting themselves (family). If we all had that attitude, it wouldn't matter what the statistics said one way or the other. The problem is, far too many people rely on someone else to protect them ( police etc. ) But we're getting way off topic here.

A fact............. more guns in this country and more gun deaths even from legally owned guns or other wise.

That's a lot like saying more people die from falling down the stairs, in houses with stairs. Or, more people drown in pools, who own pools.

Fact.........more lives are saved with guns used by good people, be it police, CCW holders, or everyday Joe's with a home defense weapon, than number of people who die because of them. And of the number of people who die because of them, the overwhelming majority of those deaths are criminals.

I'm sorry. I think I posted my response as this thread was being cleaned up ( everything was still up when I clicked reply ). I don't know how to delete it, or I would have.
