Shopping For My First Bass Boat.

Featured Replies

How's it going guys! Here's the deal me and my dad have been shoppin around for a boat. I need some advice and opinions on these two here, they both look really clean. I've just heard and read so many bad things about nitros, then again people will always find something to complain about. I'd just like to hear what you guys may have to say about these two, thanks! I feel like that's a steal on the nitro though. I don't think I'd pay that much for that triton, gonna work on him lol. Nitro has a pro xs optimax 115, triton has the 115 optimax

Having never riden in either of those boats( but I have the larger versions), the first thing I would say is I would NEVER have a dual console 17' boat if given the choice.  They take up way too much room.  Do you know if the Nitro console is removable?

I don't know how much premium it adds to your cost, but I think the peace of mind that would come from buying the 2011 Triton from a dealer would be worth quite a bit.

I'd go with the Triton, although it's about 3k more now than it was when the owner was trying to sell it on CL awhile back. I'm pretty sure the Nitro console is removable. There was a 18 Explorer on the water a couple weeks ago while I was out and it looked like a decent boat. It was a little narrower than I'd like but it got around pretty good and looked like it had ample room for 2 guys.

I'd get something that had a 150 or 200 on it you will be happier. Get you a procraft or a nice Stratos. Procraft would be on cheaper end but nice. Or even an astro nice riding boat just heavy

With a 17.5' dual console boat has short rod storage compared to a single console

The Triton looks like it was garaged...big advantage, however it was sold.

My advice, look for a garaged boat without built in electronics.

TRITON ! But I am partial :)

Ah.... Another one bites the dust, and another ones gone, another ones gone, another one bites the dust.
