Cork Rod Handles??

Featured Replies

How many use the clear sealer for there cork handles?

I just picked up two bottles of U-40 cork seal.

In the past I was leaving the clear wrap on the handles as long as possible.

So how many seal the cork? Good or bad?

Get rid of that plastic wrap, All it does it trap moisture. Cork seal is a very good product and works as advertised. I use Tru Oil on all of my grips, but I rarely use natural cork, just burls.

I don't seal it.  I'm not worried about it staying clean and pretty.  It gets worn and dirty catching fish then so be it.  If I want to clean it up a bit I use a bit of 200 grit paper to bring it back.  But not a real big priority on my list.

Don't use a sealer, just wash with soap and warm water.

If you can, return one bottle it goes a loooong ways

I agree with that. I still have the bottle I bought 10 years ago.

It doesn't necessarily keep it clean, but it does aid in keeping the filler from falling out in the lower quality grips most manufacturers are using.

I seal mine with U-40. It also darkens it just a tad which brings out some of the natural patterns. I like how that looks.

Blood and fish slime seem to keep it good for decades.
