Blade removal on a Spinnerbait

First, I need to know how you guys swap blades. I tried once, was able to get the trailing blade (willow) but couldn't get the colorado blade off, as the beads wouldn't come off the wire, cuz I couldn't bend it straight enough... :-[

What I'm trying to do is...1/2 oz spinner, shad skirt, with 2 gold willow blades..this pattern is deadly..tia.

Cut the wire close to the bend.

For the typical spinnerbait the wire is too brittle to straighten out without breaking.  You might heat it up a bit and get it to straighten but cutting it is faster.

A friend of mine invented a way to drop that second blade without bothering the first one.  Bass Pro Shops bought his patent and is paying him royalties.  I haven't seen any in stores but haven't really been looking either.

Thanks for the info.  I took an old spinnerbait, and managed to get the wire straight enough to remove the colorado blade, and the beads..The problem is bending back to the orignal shape, which is Very hard to do. I really don't want to buy a wire bender, so I'll just buy Northland spinners with tandem gold willows and swap out the skirts.. :-[
