Dobyns Champion 705Cb Glass/ With Concept A

Featured Replies

First off, I would like to say hello from Iowa as this is my first my post on here. Iowa isn't really a great bass state and I will probably be pretty lonely on here..Oh well!

Anyway as the title suggests I am looking at making this my new combo for Crank baits. If you have any suggestions/advice or disclaimers on this set-up I would love to hear them! I have never used a Dobyns rod as there is not a dealer close to me. But from what I have read on this site and the rest of the internet it seems like a perfect fit? Plus there is not too many negatives for Dobyns robs floating around out there.

Thanks

The 705cb makes a great cranking rod. It's a little whippier than I would of expected for a mh cranking rod, but it's not bad. You'll like it.

I have that rod and love it for cranking. No experience with that reel though.

Iowa is a great bass fishing state ....if you live on the mississippi or east central parts of the state :)

I use the 705cb glass for squarebills. Love it.

I have Dobyns cranking rods. I own a 765cb and a 684cb. I will eventually be adding a 705cb as well. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Would I be better off with the 705 or 704? This will be used mostly with KVD 1.5 and 2.5 and sparingly with rattle traps and jerk baits.. I think the 705 would be better but I want it to cast the 1.5's as well as possible. Oh decisions!!

705. I throw 1.5 size squarebills on it a lot.

Good to Know!

705cb.  As the previous poster said, I use it for the 1.5s even the 1.0s have been thrown on it.

I recently read the Dobyns rods are a little power overrated. Based on that if its fact you will want the 5.

I love throwing 1.5s in rocky areas. I use a Black Tech Spec medium fast rod with a Lews Magnesium reel. It's as good as it gets. The rod is a true sleeper. I use it for 1/2oz lipless cranks too. My best Bass with this rod and reel was a 5.24...

The 705cb will be great, it will handle whatever you want to throw at it.  These fish were both caught on the graphite 705cb.
