Finally.........i Finally Caught Fish With A Super Fluke

Featured Replies

How did I manage to pull this off, you ask?

Well I just simply got away from my "park lake" here, and went to a whole different lake, in a whole different state.  And then bam, just like that, that thing all of sudden started working - and working well.

How about that.

You know what else also worked well?  Every other piece of tackle that I brought with me.   Everything that never caught squat at my home "park lake," brought home the bacon when I used it out of state.

So then, in only 4 visits to the lakes out of state, Ive caught 27 fish (+3 more for my wife).

Vs.  the 32 visits to my home "park lake,"  with only 9 fish caught.

For bank fishing at least, Im still thinking this lake is junk.

Glad that you found something that worked for you :)  I see to have more luck when I go outside of my usual ponds as well.....for example Lake Okeechobee :P

I'll say your a patient guy because after 3 or 4 visits to that home lake I'd be done with it.

If I don't catch at least 10 bass on a trip I'm not happy.

Some lakes fish much better than others, those are the ones I visit.

Don't limit the baits your using.

Congrats on your catch.

Uhh....Well sir Id say the number of different baits I have, and use regularly, highly outnumber the fish that Ive pulled in from this lake.

Stay trying them with different presentations. Speeds matter too. I find myself going too fast too sometimes.

Yep, been doing plenty of that.  Been changing it up for about 3 years now.   This is probably as good as its ever going to get at this lake, with any regularity.

They work so well for me in the summer and early fall in ponds in S Fl, when the bass are smaller and finicky.

I hate fishing flukes with a passion, but the stupid things work sometimes so I have to have them. I'm actually more of a fan of the YUM Houdini Shad or even more of the Havoc The Jerk. It seems like half the baits in the bag are crooked when I buy actual flukes.

A zoom superfluke had been one of my most productive baits this year. I have much more confidence in it now. Won't leave home without it!

I feel u bro.

12 weeks at my lake and 2 or 3 lb bass is biggest I've ever caught...with LOTS of fishing... 1 day at a permit reservoir and 5.5lb bass!

So you're saying it wasn't just a fluke?

I fish flukes regularly all year either weightless, weighted or on a chatterbait head without the skirt. It's one of most productive baits. So I'm guessing by your home lake numbers that either

A. Your lake is either heavily pressured

Or

B. There's just not many bass there

Haha....well played, sir.

Have any of you guys tried the Magnum version?

Yes, and i  have caught some very nice fish on them. Watermelon seed and watermelon red work well in south FL.

They have a very similar action to the Super Flukes, and are easily cast long distances. I typically rig them with a small 1/8 or 1/16 bullet weight pegged to the nose to keep them from snagging in the weeds and sliding down the hook. A touch of Krazy Glue on the shank of the hook works well too.

Flukes have been one of my best bass catchers this year.  Might be that your home water is getting fished too much.  When I hear the word "park" the first thing that comes to mind is "fishing pressure".

I suspect, except for folks fishing for Muskies or big pike, you won't get many affirmative responses from Northernffishermen.
