Received the *** brand CRIUS casting reel I ordered today. 10 ball bearing, RH, 7.0:1. Made in CHINA. 6/250yd, 8/220, 10/190, and 12/165. Attractive, all black with blue spool, drag, and brake adjustment knob. lightweight 7.2 ozs. I already have several casting rod setups and trying to decide with what rod and line I should use.

Any suggestions?

I had the Crius and Sold it. I have 3 Tatulas I bought the Crius to add as a 4th combo for General fishing nothing specific. I could never get used to the Clutch bar (the thing you engage when casting)  i guess that's what you call it.  When I cast I use my thumb to control my cast. The clutch Bar on the Crius when engaged leaves my thumb a lot lower on the spool, unlike other reels I've cast where my thumb was on the top of the spool during the cast. I was never able to get used to it. It just didn't feel right to me. Other than that the reel seemed pretty solid.

Is this reel a ground up design or a knock off?

Gear from China can be iffy.. No parts available..

Why take a shot with a 7.2oz no name?
