OK....I have question my motorguide manual says you can run 12 volts off the one battery for lights,fishfinders,etc,but still have 24 volts ffor trolling motor...so can it be done,so i wouldnt have to buy 3 batterys

 

What are you trying to do?  Be specific with the setup...is it electric only, or is there outboard, etc..

He is wanting to wire 2, 12v  batteries in series for a 24v trolling motor, then just use one of the batteries normally to run his 12V applications.

 

I would greatly recommend against it.  Your trolling motor will create interference for your FF'ers.

yes......that is correct 2 batterys hooked up 24v..........then use one for 12v

Having the troller with the graph unit is not good.  WILL create interference is the key word.  I don't see an issue with the lights, though they are almost always wired into the cranking battery.  In every boat I've owned, the trolling motor is on it's own 24v circuit.  The rest runs off the cranker, or another auxiliary battery, such as when running multiple high draw side imaging/GPS units.

It will work. It will just not work good. In addition to the interference mentioned above, by running all of your electronics on one of the batteries, you will be wearing that battery down more than the other. Anyone with a 24v system knows that if you replace one battery, you might as well replace the other. Because if the batteries are not similar, and not in similar condition, the weaker battery is going to die. Simple as that.  With batteries not being a cheap investment- get one for your electronics and keep the other two strictly for the trolling motor.
