Boca Bearing

Featured Replies

I was wanting to order some Boca bearings from tackle warehouse to upgrade a couple reels. I have never ordered them before or upgraded any of my bearings. I noticed that there are 4 selections under the ABEC 5 bearings. Wondering why? do I have to order a specific one for a specific reel or will any of them work fine with any reels? I mainly have Lews and Abu Garcia reels besides one Daiwa. Thanks for the help!

You will probably save money by ordering from one of this Site's Sponsors, DVT. He is a Boca dealer and I think that you can get a member discount so hold off until he sees this Thread.

x3, and Hawgtech sells bearings as well.

There are multiple bearing sizes that fit specific applications as well as materials and ABEC ratings. You would need a spool pin removal tool as well got your reels. I strongly suggest you or anyone reading this, contact me via, email or phone to discuss ways to improve reel performance.

Go to boca website and do a "model search". Then klick on one the kits that has the most pieces. Then click on "kit components". That will show the sizes you need and the application for them. Once you know that you can decide what type of bearings (full ceramic, hybrids, or stainless). You can find videos on you tube to show you what to do. Also, if your reel bearings are not damaged, and of good quality, a good cleaning and very light oiling will get you close to what ceramics will do.

The model kit listings can be helpful, but not a substitute for first hand experience. It's not as cut and dried as it appears on the surface. Let me know if I can help.

If you don't have a pin remover, don't even try to change your spool bearings.   Send your reels to Mike for a cleaning, he can do your bearing swap if you decide to go that route.
