Hey guys,

 

One of my good friends just bought a house in Homestead so I decided to make the trip down from Sunrise and fish for some Peas with him. We were fishing with live shiners (my first time using live bait for bass). Having never caught a Peacock before I was pretty surprised by how hard they hit! Anyways, here are some pictures of a few of the ones we caught.

Same here my friend, however, i'd 'settle' for the ones in FL as well.

Yeah, Homestead holds some nice bass. Looks like your buddies backyard flooded a bit with all the rain we had this week huh? 

Congratulations on catching your first Peacock Bass!They definitely fight harder than a equal sized Largemouth Bass.

Congrats! I just caught my first peacock bass this past year as well. Such a cool fish and very intense fights when you get one on. Just made me want to go to the Amazon for the big ones even more!

I was born and raised in Homestead/Florida City and yes they have some nice size bass down there.

_{Fished for them once in a while when I was stationed down there.  Airport lakes was loaded with them.  Also, caught so many while in Panama that we had to put our rods down and take a break.  Gatun Lake was unreal for catching a couple hundred a day.  They hit anything and everything we threw at them.}

yes homestead/south dade is loaded with pea's>every time atving and find a lake or canal>i give it a few casts>i always nail those> Pea's>>has any body here ever eaten 1>a buddy tells me they are tastey,??

Yes it is, I went to Campbell Drive (looks like a prison now) & Homestead Sr High (looked like a prison when I was there lol)

I lived in cutler ridge (now cutler bay) until i was 10. Lived right down the street from black point marina
