Will There Be A Gen 4 Revo?

Featured Replies

Anyone got any news on whether or not Abu is looking to release a 4th gen Revo. Almost my entire lineup is gen 2 Revos. I even have a few gen 3 SX and STX. I was disappointed in the gen 3 eventhough the new ones now seem to be better than when the gen 3 was released. I think Abu needs to release a gen 4 to keep challenging Shimano, Daiwa and Less and Thirteen.

Of course there will be a gen 4. I don't see Abu just quitting on their most popular series. Abu really focused on their big bait and spinning reels the past two years so I'd say in the next two years we'll see some new Revos.

They just came out with their new gen of spinning Revo's this year. Looking at their releases the last few years, they redesigned their lower end reels, then their spinning, I would guess that gen 4's will be available beginning in 2017. We should be getting looks at it at 2016 Icast. That would be my guess anyway.

There is a guy that is on AG Prostaff in my club. He told us in our last meeting there are rumors coming from Abu saying that they are discontinuing the Revo and focusing on their lower end Orra and Max lines and their round reels. I don't believe it but it could be possible. He said the only revos will be their spinning line.

I think that would be suicide for them, unless they add a few high-end Orra's. But why would you discontinue your best seller? Who uses round reels anymore? That move just wouldn't make sense.

Agreed.  My entire rood and reel equipment is Abu.  Revo SX and Winch and the PMax and SMax all paired with Abu rods.

It would be suicide for them to discontinue the Revo casting series.

IMHO

Round reels history wise from abu are there best seller.im sure since the revo was in the scene the past 6 yrs it took away some sales from the round reels but 70 yrs of makin round reels and history.they aint gonna stop making them.they are a worldwide mainstay

No one is saying that the round reels are are being discontinued. If Abu is looking to trim some fat, they should look to the Max line and replace it with more low-end Orra offerings.

I agree I have not been a fan of the max line but they sell a lot. I like the Orra line and am in love with Revos. The only reel I use over my Revos are Thirteen. I will be the first inline if they do bring the gen 4 revos out.
