Aarons Edge Enigma

Featured Replies

Hello every one i was wanting to ask you all your opinion, I see The Aarons edge spinners on sale and was wondering if the 6'7 light rod would be a good slider rod as i want to get into slider fishing this year. Any help would be great thanks guys. I was also wondering if any of these rods would be good for spybaiting?

I've heard Aaron say in a b.r. interview that he uses the best equipment he can regardless of money or sponsership. And seeing that he switched, from megabass to enigma says alot for enigma. Sure is ugly though.

These rods are being closed out with good sale prices. I would go with the 6' 10" MH for light weight jigs like a slider.

Nice price and i'm sure they perform great, but they are terribly ugly rods!

I have found the for $90. I bought 4 of them at that price just waiting for them to arrive. Im only hesitant becasue these are such new rods and are already being discounted highly. I like the Phenom seres (the green rods) but the Aaron's Edge Series (Grey rods) seem to have better components. They also all come with a rod sock from the factory. I did a lot of research on these rods and from what I have found they are a great rod for even the $160 they retail.

Are you talking about charlie brewer slider heads Tom? I was thinking about the 1/16 oz heads on light line as i read that Charlie Brewer fished these on ultra light rods. My concern is that the MH would straighten the thin slider hooks   what say you?

I haven't found much on them as far as research, mainly because everything i hear really isnt about the way they fish but cosmetics. I dont mind the looks of rods as i have st croix avid rods in pink that i got a real good deal on. I dont care for the way they look but it doesnt shake my confidence any, they fish great.I was mainly wondering about the application of the 6'7 light spinning rod wether or not it would be a good rod for charlie brewer slider heads in around 1/16 oz weights.

That's why he was using shimano reels long before he was sponsored lol... but yeah, you can watch tournament footage and see he is actually using these rods. I believe they just came out with a brand new model as well, the phenom titanium which has a much better looking foregrip

mega bass vs enigma is probably like corvette zr1 vs lambo. Totally different, huge price gap, huge technology gap, same lap times

I looked hard at them but found a Shimano Crucial for 99 bucks with limited lifetime warranty so I went that route. I don't think he would endorse, and especially fish, with a rod he didn't like. The guy is famous for attention to detail. If he goes through 100 hooks and picks five to use, then he is not gonna put up with a rod that is not perfect for him. One huge factor for me is that he left Megabass for Enigma, and had one of the best years ever.

I need a couple more rods to complete my arsenal and I think the Enigma is gonna be one of them. If the color scheme was better I think these rods would be flying off the shelves.

Idk if its the same ones but american fishing legacy has crucials for 89.99 bucks, thats where i found the aarons edge rods for 84.99. I think the crucials are casting only tho.

where did you find that crucial??

At Outdoor Junction in Cookeville, Tennessee. Great little store with an awesome rod selection. I think I paid 109 for my Med Heavy 7 2, but he had several at 99. The guy over the fishing department is Rick if you wanna call them. Just google outdoor junction in cookeville. They would probably ship the od to you as well, not sure.

Sorry about the typo error, should be the 6'10" ML spinning rod, met to ask about spinning or casting?

Np Tom I was talking spinning. I went ahead and ordered the 6'7 light and the 6'10 ml at those prices i figure it was a good deal. Thanks alot.

Just got my 6'10" ml A-A-Ron rod. It's nice enough for the price. Matte finish on the rod beyond about 5 inches in front of the grip. Like the looks other than the matte purple model name. I got the rod to use for drop shots, ned rig and spy baiting. My favorite rod for the first two is my 6-9 mlxf avid. This rod has a much stiffer tip and bends way further down the blank than the avid. The grip feels great. Feels like it was designed for four fingers in front of the reel, which is how I hold my spinning rods. I think this was a good buy for the price, but it will likely be a few months before I can fish with it. Hopefully it will still feel like a good purchase once I get a few outings under my belt with it.
