NRX Casting Rods Reel Seat Comfort

Featured Replies

Just wondering if you guys that own NRX baitcasters could tell me if the reel seats are very comfortable being how minimalistic they are, especially if you palm reels?

I think they're comfortable but I can certainly understand why someone thinks they're not. My NRX is more or less custom but it has a stock real seat. I have a daiwa TDZ type R plus on mine and it fits perfectly when I palm and I have very large hands.

I own a 894 and have never had a problem with the seat or even a thought of it not being comfortable to use. My old gen 1 owemen, now thats another story.

I love mine.  Paired with an Ito Ai Alphas variant, it fits my hand like an absolute dream.  As all things though, it's completely subjective and some may not like it.

Very comfortable.

I am easy to please though. I have rods from different companies, and I haven't found one that I didn't like.

Yeah - like Diggy I never even gave it any thought.  I palm the reel as well and have several fingers wrapped around the blank between the front and rear of the reel seat and never noticed any discomfort.

My most used NRX is an 893C and after hours of use I don't have any comfort problems. Of course, it helps if you're catching fish...;)

I own 1 BC and 1 spinning 893 and 852 respectively.  I personally don't have an issue with either one, but like others - never thought about it.

All My NRX are very comfortable and I palm also, my *** gen 1 not so much, but another rod with a comfy grip is Dobyns

I didn't know that you could buy NRX blanks? I would love to have some customs made on that blank. Who builds your rods and do you know if the general public can buy NRX blanks?

NRX blanks are not available for purchase. I sent you a PM

I own NRX853C paired with Core 51. I love mine.

Gen 2 is a HUGE improvement.

As stated, this will be subjective with each person.  With that being said, mine are very comfortable when palming the reel.  I have a JWR 893C/Shimano Curado I and an MBR 842C/Abu Garcia Revo LTX.  Love them both but that MBR 842C is really something special...

G loomis stopped selling blanks years ago. There are equally good blanks available though. Anything not stock on a gl blank would better be described as modified than custom. That type of seat is called a split seat. I find them less comfortable and harder to install. They are largely love'em or hate'em.

I have the 822S NRX but obviously u can't compare that to the casting rods, which I have held without a reel on them. I also palm the reel when fishing and just wouldn't think your fingers wrapped around just a blank for 8 to 10 hrs could be very comfortable. Hope I'm wrong cuz I'm gonna be buying some regardless.

The nrx is definitely very comfortable, not the kind of comfortable I got from other rods that I actually had the thought of d**n this is comfortable, but it's comfortable enough that like them after my first three or four casts I never gave it a second thought.
