Fishing Rods With A Lot of Bend

Featured Replies

Hey everyone!

Recently, I have been looking into getting a rod that has a lot of bend in it, but I have been having trouble finding one. Any suggestions you guys have for a rod would be appreciated.

Under $100 would be ideal.

I have that Lightning Rod for Spinning. I use it for smaller treble lures. It's not the most sensitive, but you don't need that for trebles. It has a springy enough tip to not rip out trebles and a good enough backbone to land a big bass. Still flexible enough for crappie in a pinch.

I have a Duckett Ghost M cranking that has the most parabolic bend than any other rod I've used.

What range are you looking for?  M action, MH?  For what type of fishing?  Most cranking lines have a moderate action, Falcon makes 2 Bucoo's that are moderate, a 7'M and a 7'6"M.  The 7'6" is $110 though and the other is $99.

No more than Medium. I am thinking of getting a spinning set up with it for multiple applications.

Falcon makes the same 7'M moderate in spinning (Bucoo line).  I have one I use for dropshot fishing and Ned Rigs. Might want to check that one out.

Will do! Thanks

Another one that bends pretty well and is relatively cheap is the Shimano Sojourn 7' M.

I was going to recommend the St. Croix Mojo Bass, but the spinning version of this rod only comes in fast or x-fast.  Same with the Loomis e6x spinner. I have casting version of both of these; the Mojo Bass Glass casting rod has plenty of bend and is an awesome stick for the money - $119 or so.  But don't you want less bend for most spinning applications - single hook hook-sets??

Yes, that is generally true. I just enjoy the feel of a spinning rod with more bend, which is the main reason I am looking for one.

All fishing rods bend a lot. Parabolic means the rod bends evenly and bass rods labeled "crankbait" fall into this classification.

"More bend" can be the result of lighter power, slower action or both. A little more insight into the applications might get you some better recommendations.
