2 new rods

Featured Replies

Hey guys, looking to get 2 new rods this spring.

First, I want a new flipping and pitching rod. I will most likely put a Tatula reel on it but what do you suggest for a rod between $100-$200. Looking for the most sensitive rod I can find in that price range. Most likely put 17-20lb fluorocarbon.

The other is a drop shot rod. I'm looking at at cabelas zx tournament drop shot or a Berkley emotion rod. Something in the $75-$150 range.

Not familiar with either, but if you move this to the Rod, Reel and Line forum I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses.

Look at Irod Gen II series casting and spinning rods, $150

7'6" H Andy junk casting rod and 7'1" M spinning.

Thanks WRB

Either the Savvy or Fury from Dobyns will work well as a flippin rod. I have an old EliteTech smallmouth spinning rod, 6'9" M/XF, works very well as a finesse/dropshot rod. They discontinued the smallmouth rods, but the remaining one works just as well from what I've learned on these forums.

Also, make sure to check the flea market here to see if you can get a good deal.

I have the Dobyns savvy 704 that I use for flipping and love it.

I would put the Tatula on a Tatula rod, they are nice rods and can be found for under $150.

If you wanted to go up to $220, I would recommend the Kistler Magnesium 2 HMH 7'6" rod for flipping/pitching.

Also, like another member said, check out the flea market and you might find a new or close to new rod for a reasonable price.
