not sure if theres a forum for boat troubl or if this is allowed. but wondering if anyone could help me put here

the livewell on my boat is acting up. when i turn livewell on manual aerator it pumps water fine. but if i put it on automatic. the water just barely pumps. it worked fine last year wondering if anyone had any ideas why it isnt pumping correctly on auto

First thing I would check is the voltage from both switches.  If the pump is working on manual and not quite right on auto I'd almost bet you have a bad switch causing low voltage resulting in the pump barely running.  Start there.

 

And you should have posted this in the boat forums.....next time.

I don't know your exact setup but it could be the timer. Do as suggested above and you'll get it narrowed down quick.

If yours is like most of the boat I've had, the switch is a centered rocker switch where the center position is off and you flip it one direction for manual and the other direction for automatic.  Manual goes directly to the pump, automatic goes through a timer module, then to the pump.  One side of the switch, or the timer could be bad, or just a bad connection on them.

Get yourself DeoxIT contact cleaner, it's useful on any electrical contact including light bulbs.

For emergency livewell aeration keep a pint bottle of 3% hydrogen peroxide in the boat; 1/2 cup to 15 gallons of water (average livewell size) will keep the dissolved oxygen level safe for bass for several hours.

update

3 months later i finally decided to look at it with a tournament in a couple weeks

took switch panel off. popped wires off and reconnected. and it worked perfect  mustve been a bad connection
