Change prop?

Featured Replies

with the posts on how fast some of these aluminum boats are going with smaller HP motors got me thinking.  I have a 17'6' Triton with a 2 stroke 60 HP, that I believe has the original prop. Not sure how to tell what it is but if anyone could give an opinion on whether I should get another one that would be more efficient would be appreciated.

I prob would think a 13p or 15. Take off your prop and find out what you have, then check www.mercurymarine.com and use the prop selector and see what they suggest. If you know your current speed, weight, prop, RPM you can dial in what you're  looking for.

Im thinking off the top of my head prob 30-34mph, my 16ft tracker with a 2 cyl 40hp Merc with a 13p prop got me with a light load up to 28mph and heavy to 25.

If you get your max RPM you're turning with your current prop, along with the pitch of the prop, and top speed, we can better help you out.

The boat is in for its yearly service so hopefully I'll get out Friday and get the stats
