Columbia pfg gale warning rain gear

Featured Replies

I'm looking at getting me some cold weather gear, how long as this Columbia gear been around? And good reviews on it? I have heard enough bad from the 100mph suit to make me not want it. But I need something that is also length as I am 6'7". So is it a good suit for the price, or are there better options?

Columbia Gear has been around for decades.  Their PFG line is their flagship product line - great stuff.  You won't be disappointed.

You may also want to consider Simms Fishing gear.

i have a lot of columbia gear and love it. I cant speak on that line of gear, i have frogg toggs rain gear myself. All but a few of my fishing shirts are columbia pfg, all with a good upf rating for sun protection. I also have windproof jackets, and several fleece jackets and items from columbia, and its always been good stuff.

I have heard nothing but good things on simms gear as well like @Glenn mentioned, but it is out of my price range.

Simms products are on a whole different level than Columbia.  Not saying Columbia is bad by any means, but as far as extreme wet weather protection goes...Simms has them beat by a mile.  I've only seen Columbia rain gear at 10K waterproofing, which isn't ideal for steady rain.  If you're looking more for insulation vs. wet weather protection, the Gale Warning suit would be a pretty good choice.  The Omniheat layer in the Gale is pretty decent, especially if you're moving around a bit.
