picked up a fenwick hmg today

So as most of you know I broke a rod the other day so I needed a new texas rig rod, needed one to pitch 1/4 oz tungsten around cypress knees. Walked in to a local tackle shop and behold!! This rod caught my eye, haven't used full cork handle in years but this rod here felt great. It's rated 3/8 to 1 oz and I feel like the tip is just soft enough to pitch 3/16 and 1/4 oz but not to soft. Feels well balanced, crisp action, solid backbone to turn a head, and as light another rod I broke that I won't name.  Guides are straight and seem sturdy. Gonna be using p line cxx with it. Can't wait to give it a test run for sensitivity on Saturday and maybe send some fish home with sore mouths

Forgot to mention it is the 7ft mh fast casting model

I have been eyeballing an HMG.

I'll post a review come Sunday morning. So far nothing but positive statements but I haven't been out on the water with it yet

I found one exactly the same way when I was looking for a flipping stick..I found the HMG and I loved the way it felt in my hands and it had the tip I liked etc...I have been using it for about 18 months now, and I couldn't be happier. I almost purchased another Okuma rod but glad I purchased the Fenwick. I have 100% confidence in the rod pulling any fish out of nasty cover, and now would buy Fenwick anytime I see a deal....Good Luck, Sure  you will love it, Fenwick is good stuff...

I have a couple of fenwick Eagles and a couple HMX.  Spinning and casting.  I like them.

Lookforward to see what you think of the HMG.

Wow this rod guys is legit. Sensitive wise on par with my tatula. Well balanced with a Lews tournament mb. Great tip on it great backbone was able to set the hook and control the fish no issue. The handle took a minute to get used to as everything I have is split grip. The cork handle is long, about 16 inches but I love it

Don't have the HMG. I have an older mh/f Fenwick Techna AV that is my go to bottom contact rod.

If that HMG is even close to the Techna, then you sure got something there!

Technas are above HMG.

My cousin´s husband has a couple of HMGs and I have tried them, not bad at all, they are well made & feel good.
