Living rubber jigs

Featured Replies

Was looking through the jigs on *** the other day and came across these jigs that had a small "ball" shaped skirt. I think they were Skinny Bear jigs or something. Anyway, while I was sitting today watching Dallas lose, I figured I would try to make a few with a similar skirt. These are all made with living rubber. I stuck with black, brown, black/blue, black/brown, and green. I put them in some water with a trailer and they look pretty good. What do you think? Has anyone used jigs with this type of skirt?

Here is a pic of the black/blue one.

Here is an all black one with a green pumpkin rage craw (cut down), under water.

I hope they work, I made about ten of them! ;D

Thanks

I don't see why they wouldn't work. The bottom picture looks good with it in the water.

Looks good to me .

Great looking jig. I use the Skinny Bear jigs and they are great. But the older ones were much better when they were made with thin fine rubber. Wish I could find those again ;)

Thanks guys, I plan to give them a good workout on Friday.  I will let you know how I do.

Hi Red,  Nice looking jigs, I use living rubber about 80% of the time because to me it gives the bait a larger silhouette and the movement of the rubber is different than silicone. I skip a jig alot and sometimes use small black wire ties instead of rubber skirt collars to hold them to the jig head. My preference is flat living rubber over hte round but can't find the flat at this time. Good luck Friday.

I go with the living rubber for the reason posted by nanticoke, sometimes adding just a little bit of sicone for flash. Most anglers go for the flashy silicone jigs simply because of eye appeal not understanding their action in the water . Put both in the water and observe and you will understand the action difference.

Sorry guys, no reports yet, couldn't put the spinnerbait down(see outing section), and it got too windy for me to stay on the water.  Gonna have to wait till another time!
