Revo MGX Sheared Brake Pins

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a new Revo MGX baitcaster online and on my very first cast all the brake pins sheared off. I found that the screw on the right side that gives you access to the brake system was loose, which I'm guessing is what caused this.

I called Abu Garcia and they want me to send it in. I don't want to spend all the time of going about a warranty claim if I can just replace them myself.

Has anyone had this problem and fixed it on their own? I couldn't find anything online that described how to do it. Admittedly I haven't really looked at the reel to see if it's something I could do on my own.

Thanks for the input.

If you don't even know how to proceed /w fixing the issue you don't know all the necessary parts that may or may not be missing/damaged.

Send it back...a new reel shouldn't do that. You can also find out if you have a certified Abu Garcia repair service in your area of close. I think they have a map on their website /w them .They will fix your reel through the warranty if they are certified through Abu/Pure Fishing.

^^^ second that!! I though I would be cool and brake my Revo SX down and clean it and greese it.... After I was done I had some extra parts that I didn't start with... Took it to my dealer to have it out back together correctly. Learned a valuable lesson that day lol...
