Lake Wallenpaupack

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

Thinking about making a trip out here in August.  Anyone have experience fishing here? Would it be worth a 4.5-5 hr drive (live in NE Mass)?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

CB

Only fished it once but it's a heavy heavy water traffic lake . Fishing is very hard in the summer and I have yet to uncover any spots . Best idea in the summer is to head over to docks along the northern part of the lake and use that as a starting point . I'm going to head up there this weekend I'll keep u posted if I get anything .

No, not worth that sort of ride. I'd head west into any of finger lakes or Oneida before going to the pack.

Would it make sense to target smallies at the pack?

I agree. Oneida or Cayuga would be much better and have more shoreline structure for fishing. I've fished Cayuga and it can be awesome for smallies and largemouths in the fall.

I agree as well.  I've only fished it twice (once was probably 20 years ago) and it seemed like a great recreation lake and not so much a great fishing lake.  I wouldn't drive the 2 hours it would take me to get there let alone 4-5.

Not worth the drive. Go to Candlewood in CT.
