Any body fish any tournaments. I do 2 local ones. 1 invite only and 1 local  bar tournament. my partner moved to Florida looks like I might be going solo this year.

I might fish the Erie Canal Derby, but is that tournament you're in boat only? Or can you fish off of shore or kayak?

What were they biting on for you? As for river smallmouth, I managed this hog in the river this past friday. Pre spawn belly with huge shoulders on her. Very healthy fish, she's covered in foam, I did

  • Hey guys.  New to the forums, but was pleased to see such an active Buffalo/WNY thread. I was down at the Erie Canal overflow pond in Ellicott Creek Park on Tuesday.  Spent about two hours there

Man you're have quite a day Jigger! I love that dark one with the stripes. Smallmouth are just the coolest aren't they? Are you finding them deep right now or is it shallow where you're fishing? I marked a lot on dropoffs when I was out the other day. Went from like 10' down to 20+' and they were all suspending over the deep water but hanging at that 10' depth. That was the spot next to the Thruway I was fishing the other day and I drove right by it on the way home (on the Thruway) and a guy was fighting a fish. I went by there again yesterday morning on the way to work and another guy was landing one at that same spot. Kind of cool to see guys landing fish on my drive to work at 60mph.

Headed to the river today, hopefully I be able to get on a few fish.  Looks like it'll be a great day

Today is absolutely gorgeous! I work outside, so this is wonderful, but I'd rather be fishing. ?

Good luck out there!

Catching them in about 5 to 6 feet with a Texas rigged watermelon red flake brush hog

Hey guys great conversation.  I'm not looking for anyone's honey hole but I'm always looking for places close by to fish as well. I've tried fishing the Erie Canal numerous times over the years and never caught squat.   I've tried around ship'n shore and upstream on tonawanda creek.  Also tried around Amherst near the veteran park launch off Brendon rd.  Never seem to catch anything.  Always looking for someplace close to fish in Amherst and catch some bass. Was thinking about taking the kayak out towards Lockport direction to give that a shot.  Just wondering if it's worth trying or if it's a lost cause.  Plenty of other places to catch fish but it seems like there should be fish in there but I never have any luck.   Thx!

Never fished the canal. Pond in Ellicott creek park is great. Right now u can probably go to any shore spot on the niagara river and catch small mouth

did anyone ever try the pond in sheridan park? is fishing even allowed?

Yes. Only if you don't get caught. I used to fish them a few summers ago, at night.  The good ponds are on the actual golf course and they don't allow it, but I don't see why not when it's dark out. There's some weird stuff in some of those ponds though... both fish and other things.

Heading out on the lake or river next weekend... Trying to decide which one...

went there today. people golfing told me i could not fish there. are there any good small ponds nearby? I am growing a bit tired to that ellicott creek park pond.

Lake always....I'm gonna hit my little hot spot from shore tomorrow for a few hours

I fished the lower Niagara yesterday. I started at Devil's Hole and worked my way down to the power authority. Came up empty handed, not even a bite.

Not sure where I'm headed today but hopefully I have better results.

Bike path along river. I park by north grand island bridge and  walk and hit spots all the way up to the intakes

Dunkirk Harbor was productive yesterday! Hit the docks with a lipless. They were crushing em all morning.

Got 7 in total. 4lb8oz was the winner. Love me some Mondays.

Tight lines gents.
