I have 1997 Tracker Pro Team17 17' aluminum, 40hp Tracker Mercury Marine motor, troll motor, 2 batteries, gear. How do I determine the overall weight?

Ive been wondering the same thing.  When I get it all loaded up I'm gonna take it to the local dump and they will weigh it for you for a few bucks.

salvage yards that deal in scrap metal also should have a big enough scale.

NADA normally lists boat weight and the unladen trailer weight should be on the owners card.

Under 2,000 lbs. Are you trying to see if your vehicle can support the weight? You have to take into consideration not only the weight of the boat but also the gear in your truck. 

Find a scale. Could be one of the above suggested places or possibly a truck stop or feed store perhaps. Weigh the truck without the trailer then with. Subtract the first weight from the second. That's your boat weight including the trailer. As tbone said if you're checking for towing weight purposes the combined number of trailer, boat, truck and gear in both is the number that matters.

Gas is 6# per gallon, batteries are about 70 lbs, I always figure the trolling motor as a match for that to be safe.

I figure 200 - 250 lbs for gear, again I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Don't know what your trailer weighs...but it should be on it someplace.

I got about 1270 with an empty tank, off the trailer, including gear.

Thanks for that. Do you have any idea how much a trailer would weigh? Single axle, with spare tire. I found the placard but they didn't fill it out, it is blank.

My 17' single axle Trailmaster is 600# according to the paperwork.

Take to scale. Like movingcompany for a small fee.  Trailers single axle can easily weigh1000 pounds

The 600 lbs above sounds about right.

My single axle for an 1850 is right around 800 lbs, but

• It's heavy duty (probably overbuilt)
• it has metal fenders you can stand on
• it has metal walk-on plates on moth sides of the fenders.

Many larger truck stops have a scale. They will charge a fee, but it is worth it to get a print out. As stated before, weigh total rig, then unhook and weigh boat, motor and trailer. Subtract and you will have a very accurate weight.
