New Person on Board - from southeast Texas

Featured Replies

My dad taught me to fish when I was a boy.  Cane pole, cork, weight, hook and live bait.  I loved the outdoors and did not have the patience for the equipment.  On my 12th birthday I asked for a fly rod. My dad had a co-worker from Montana (we were living in a small town in east Texas) that taught me out to fly fish.  Now this was unheard of at the time - 1957, learning to fly fish in east Texas. So, kicked off my fishing habit - I fished my teenage years with a fly rod on Toledo Bend and ponds/lakes in south Louisiana - then have gone on to spinning tackle and then to casting reels. So, 60 years of crappie, bass and striper fishing and I am still learning.
