anyone catching crappie on finesse rig while bass fishing

Featured Replies

I guess pretty much any lake that holds bass will hold crappie and vice versa

finesse bass fishing seems all the rage these days, so I can't help but wonder

how many crappie are scoffing up the little jigs like the ned rig.

I'll bet a lot

I have caught a few crappie on the Ned rig, but not that many.  But I have caught a lot of big crappie on a small pointer while bass fishing, and my pb crappie was caught on a 110 size pointer.

This guy took an X-rap pop during a crazy mayfly hatch.

Catch crappie on all sorts of bass lures all the time, ned included.

Crappie can be really aggressive when they're in the right mood. I had 21 keeper crappie fishing for bass one day with jerkbaits and a popper believe it or not. Big crappie love a jerkbait hanging in their face.

Ned rigs and Keitechs catch a lot of my summer time and fall crappie.

Bladed jigs have accounted for my biggest crappie of the year the last few years in a row, along with some big ones on spinnerbaits.

I saw a picture on FB a day or two ago with a guy that had caught a crappie on a 6" Hudd.

It's not always the big ones that do it either, that's a 6XD that little fella whacked.

A little more towards the original question, these 14.5" bookends both ate a 3" power minnow I was swimming on a light jighead.

I will agree that they love a vision 110, I've caught a lot of nice ones on them.

I have never caught a crappie on a ned rig.  I have caught them on just about everything else though.

Crappie and bass are not all that different. A crappie will try to eat anything it can fit in its mouth. When the crappie go shallow to spawn they will hit any moving bait you throw for bass. I catch a lot of them on square bills, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits.
