Carrying 6 7 or 8 Rods

Featured Replies

I'm really ocd with my stuff and I shouldn't have bought the rods I did to fish tournaments as a co-angler with but I did. And I'm wanna know how u guys pack/carry your rods around to each boat? And do u have anything or a system u use when there in a boat w no locker especially to keep them from flying out when at speed? Thanks

I always wanted to bring a ton of stuff when I fished as a co-angler but realized it's just a bad idea.  Your boater will probably not be too happy and you'll be fighting with tangled rods all day.  I cover all mine with Rod Sox pros (the ones with the rubber bottom).  They fit tighter than any I've ever used.  You can also get rod straps to keep them all bunched together.

Rod socks, neoprene reel covers, and a bungee ball to keep them together. The boat should have a rod strap by the passenger seat to strap them down during runs.

When I was a backseater I  would take up to 6.

Ditto

If you're in an older boat that doesn't have a rod strap, pin your left leg against the rods and hold onto them with your left hand and the gunnel if you can. Keep them wrapped together will make it easier.

I'm very OCD about my rod and reels and maintenance and preventative measures. When I am a back seater I use rod gloves, and TW reel covers and a rod strap to keep them all together. I usually only take 4 rods up to 5 at most. I see some guy's just throwing their rod's in the boat with no rod covers or reel covers and I cringe. Don't take too many because then you'll be a nuisance to the boater. 6 at most is my limit
