Another FP-13 trip

Recommended Posts

My partner and I traveled on Sunday. Fished Monday, Tuesday , Wed  and returned to Jacksonville on

Thursday. After 3 grinding days on FP-13 our totals were :

Day 1- 18 LMB

Day 2- 25 LMB

Day 3- 12 LMB

I cannot explain why the bite was so slow as April has normally been our strong month.

On day 1 we fished eel grass edges all day and only found smaller males, but did weigh and photograph a spawned out female for a tourist  that was 8.14 in the grass.

On day 2 we pulled back and slung traps all day  randomly over the vast shell bottom flats which produced more and better quality post spawned fish.

Figuring we had a game plan for day 3 we started on the flats and never found the numbers or quality that we had expected. The more I think I know about our sport the more the LMB show me I do not.

R/ Chris

Nice report!  You still caught some solid fish in those pics.  You're right though.  As soon as we think we have them figured out, they prove us wrong.

Just goes to show you the quality of that fishery.  What you call slow days would be days to die for for a lot of the guys on this forum, especially the up north bassers.

I wish I had slow days like that. My local lake is filled with 1 pound, 11 inch bass. Even in spring you are more likely to catch a little bass. You got to work hard to catch one over a pound.

It would take me a month to catch that many fish around here!
