i would buy a brand new bass tracker 195 aluminium or another nice alunium  195 triton

You have plenty of money to go after a good fiberglass boat. If you choose aluminum like I did since I'm 17yrs  old you'll need to get yourself a kidney belt. If you can afford a skeeter or a champion or even a ranger. THose would be my three personal top chooses. Sionce I've been looking around to upgrade.

I would look for a good used fiberglass boat. you can find one a few years old with low hours that may have cost 25,000 or more when it was new. I think you would be getting a lot more boat and motor that way.

Abelfisher, I got a real nice Yamaha G3 17.5 ft. With a Garmin fish finder, a 50 hp 4 stroke, live well, A Minnkota troling motor, 2 elt. ancor whenches, for and aft deck seats, and a binimi top for under 15k.New 05 model.

Thanks Glassman, I'll have to check that out.  Out here in CA.  Law says we have to have 4 stroke.  50HP is about the right size.

Get a Triton alum. You should be able to get a 176 or 186 with a 90hp for that price. I have a 170 with a 75 hp merc that i like well,though now i wish i would have gotten bigger. 8)

I would probably end up with Nitro 700LX DC with a 90HP Mercury. Very nice boat for the money!

I would upgrade my 17' 6" aluminum Triton to a 19 footer with a 200hp on it....woo hoo.  There is a pic of it right next to this...lol.  2 more feet in length, 5 more inches in width and 85 more HP.  Yep that is an improvement to me for 16K.  Heck, I might even get change back...lol  Oh and get it fully loaded.  With the safety ladder in it too.  Earl told me they were working on that for the aluminums.  It's not how big the toys...Oh heck, who am I kidding...YES IT IS!!!! :

Abel , The best advice anyone could give is dont rush ! I had a friend just a couple of weeks ago sell his boat here in NC and someone in Fla bought it. It was a 21-22 ft Triton Bass and Bay boat no carpet it had the wash down inside it dual console and 225 v max and a Genesis trolling motor. Super nice Boat with 2 yrs warranty left on it. it was a 2000 model that he bought in 2001 and he gave like 36,000 bucks and sold for 16,500 . It could have been bought for 14,500 but he got that . So what im sayin is people are always gettin out and just wanna get rid of the boats. Take your time and you can get a real deal if ya look .

It really depends on what type fishing you will be doing.River?Lake?Both?If you are fishing lakes,I would definitely get a fiberglass boat.If you are fishing mainly rivers,get aluminium.

You should be able to find a real nice used Ranger for 16 grand.And Rangers hold their value alot longer than most other makes.

you can find a nice boat for that kind of money just take your time and look around.... i bought a 99 nitro 882 175hp hot foot and all the goodies at a pawn shop lol ...its like new.....a coke head pawned it lol.....12,000

i would stay away from the 4 strokes...high maintence...and new e-tech evinrudes beat the four strokes on pollution and speed

Just what I bought--a used Ranger.

I'd go with a mid level Nitro.

Ooooow! I'd go to the nearest Bass Pro Shop and walk out of there(Actually, trailer out of there) with a brandy new Tracker PT 185 Jetboat!

This is the same question that I've asked myself, but I not ready to buy... yet.  You should be able to find a good used 1997 - 2000 Triton, Ranger or Champion in that price range if you're looking at fiberglass.  If you're looking at aluminum find a good used all welded hull boat.

Make sure you shop around, there are a lot of good deals out there, but most are hard to find.
