Humminbird's 360 Imaging

Delivering detailed 360-degree underwater views with the same sharp detail as Humminbird’s revolutionary Side Imaging technology, Humminbird's 360 Imaging offers unprecedented sonar capabilities. With a single sweep, 360 Imaging has the ability to cover a 300-foot diameter circle (70,685 square feet).

Visualize 360 Imaging as a thin sonar wall extending 150 feet to either side of your boat. This wall rotates to create a 300-foot circle - updated in real time - enabling you to see areas virtually impossible to reach with other types of sonar. And, because the sonar wall moves, you don’t have to.

What that means for the angler is that you can now see up to 150 feet in front of the boat without spooking the fish, as well as, everything to either side and behind you, including various underwater structure, bait balls and fish.

Wouldn't it be nice to see the pro's fishing without all the electronics...

It would be interesting. ...

But there are times when you might be on the perfect place,  bait,  structure,  ect. And yet the fish just aren't there.

Sonar makes it possible to locate the fish.  It's all part of the game,  if you don't know how to use it and the other guy does than they have a strong advantage on you.

I would rather fish with the wrong bait in the wright place than fish the wrong place with the wright bait!  It would be cool to see them fish blind!

I got my first boat the other day and my daughter asked what the screens were for. I told her fish finders. She immediately said that is a cheat! As in video game cheat giving the one player a unfair advantage over the opponent. I have to say it's hard to argue her point.

Being humans are supposed to be suruperior isn't enough we are having electronics point to the fish. What would people say about a deer hunter using infared scopes? Heck with the technology now I really don't see near as much skill today as we have baits that almost mimic and look like the real thing with scents the same and we call these guys "professional". I'm not saying they aren't great fishermen but let's take all the aids away use your lures and your brain to find the fish.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say you probably don't fish competitively.

I think it'd be interesting to see the pros fish a no-electronics tournament just to see how they would go about finding fish

You think these guys don't use their brains? I highly recommend you attend a seminar given by a pro. I can say that KVD and Ike are on an entirely different level than the rest of us, and I consider myself a decent stick.

Electronics are just another tool in the arsenal. Ask any person who makes a living in the trades or as a mechanic. Having the right tool for the job makes all the difference in  the world. As far as lures, there are lures that catch fish and others that catch fisherman,

No I don't fish competitively. But I understand the desire to have every stinking advantage man can create at their finger tips. But that doesn't mean there wasn't competitive fishing before all the electronics.

The problem is where does it end? What's the limit to where it becomes enough? All I am saying is let's see what the man can do vs a little fish.

Hey it's the pros rabbit hole he's digging deep and it isn't about the better angler when you hear things like "It's all part of the game,  if you don't know how to use it and the other guy does than they have a strong advantage on you.

That is not showing me who is the better angler. That shows me the better financed person and or better at reading electronics. Neither of them have anything to do with the mans ability with a rod, reel, baits or a person's knowledge of the species and their traits.

I didn't say they don't use their brain I'm saying leave it at that and quit using thousands of dollars to pin point every fish.

If every tool was the motto why aren't deer hunters using infared? Or spotlights? Why not just go free for all and have at it? Well it's not really a sport when the odds have become redicioulus in ones favor.

Just my opinion wasn't calling anyone out like they were dumb or something.

You still have to get the fish to bite

The thing i like most about NOT having any electronics on my boat is.. I always have an excuse when i have a bad day?...... If anything, i feel sorry for the guy with the $2000 Lowrammingbird.... Hes under a lot of pressure!

That said, i put one on the list for fathers day?... Its about time i moved farther from shore, but i have no idea whats down there??

Response to the deer hunting comment.. Good point.. But the difference is, even without aid you can physically see signs of a likely good hunting spot.... We cant see fish tracks, they dont make trails or scrape trees either... And i never had any luck with fish urine on my boots (joke)

Sonar is an aid for finding productive areas... Whoever decided to call them "fish finders" ruined their reputation

However, they keep getting so much more advanced that i fear one day we'll be able to just pull up google maps when we wake up, zoom in on satellite as we drink our coffee and scan the whole lake for fish before we even leave the house.... THAT would be cheating

JVD has one on his boat too as well as several others.

Non-pro me has one also-- doesn't make them bite though. It gives you the opportunity to make a cast where they are--sometimes they bite.

Comes down to money. If we are talking about the pro circuits, they want the pros to catch as many and as big of fish as possible to gain public attraction. Who wants to watch a weigh in where the leader is 3 fish for 7lbs? Most people want to see a 5 fish 25-30# bag! Electronics help locate fish so the anglers have a better shot at catching fish, that's the point of a tournament! Can't really compare it to deer hunting with an infrared scope, we release the fish.. If you want to ban electronics you'll see every tournament won by bank beaters and flippers with 5 fish limits of 2# flipping fish with a kicker or two (like club tournaments).. won't be too exciting.

You're the Man Wayne ~

I'm trying hard to justify (insert afford) one for the new Lund.
