Lure knocker

Recommended Posts

Anyone make there own lure knocker/retriever? Mainly looking for one to dislodge single hook baits like a jig. I have some pretty heavy lead weights just curious if anybody had any tips on making a knocker.

I've used a Spark plug with a snap swivel. Worked great for me I always keep one in my tackle bag. Hopefully it works for you too. Good luck!

*Put the Snap swivel on the Electrobe and close down the gap. Snap onto your line and watch it go.

As much as i believe that will work. I don't have any old plugs laying around and I don't think it would be cost effective to buy them for this purpose lol.

Tryin to think of the best way to make it run down the line and strike the lure directly so that I have the best chance of retrieval. Need the knocker to be centered and tight against the line.

I've done the old spark plug as well and it does work.

Use a heavy casting sinker and a snap. Clip it on the sinker, then onto the line and slide it down. Hold the line tight so it slams into the bait when it gets to the snag. If that does work, jerking the rod gets the weight pulling back and forth on the line and will often work it loose.

Pick up a handful of 2oz bell sinkers and put a heavy snap on the eye.  When you get hung up, move as close to the lure as you can get, then snap the sinker to your line and let it drop down to the lure before snapping the rod tip.  This almost always works for me.

There are many different methods to make a lure knocker. Here is one that is cheap and effective. Personally, I like to use a slightly heavier sinker than the one shown, but this should give you a good starting point. There are a lot of videos on YouTube showing different types.
