what is the best fluorocarbon line for baitcasters and then spinning reels?

I am considering spooling my 2500 spinning reel with 12 pound braid to a fc leader.

If it's for use as a leader, I would recommend getting either line designed for leaders or tatsu.  But for use as mainline, red label is what I would recommend, unless you can afford tatsu which from what I heard (I haven't ever actually tried it) is the best.

Honestly, if you're just tying fluoro to braid to use as a leader, for the most part, brand doesn't matter because the shortened leader takes the biggest complaint (stiffness and subsequent poor handling and casting) out of the equation. If you are spooling up a full spool of fluoro, then some of the more softer or easy to manage lines like InvisX, Tatsu or Toray (Finesse) would be great choices to start with depending upon budget.

I also would advise against spooling straight fluoro onto a spinning reel unless you have a really good/unavoidable reason why you're doing it.

I use straight 6-lb fluoro (Tatsu) on my spinning gear without any problems at all. I'm not a fan of leaders.  Knots are just another point of failure, so I avoid them as much as possible.  Plus I like to keep things simple.

Seaguar Tatsu is the best fluorocarbon line on the market, bar none, but it's also very expensive. 

Seaguar Invisx 6-8 lb test might be a better option for you. It's an excellent 'starter' fluorocarbon line, especially for spinning reels. Very soft and low memory. A lot of anglers swear by it. 

Spinning I use both 15 and 10 pound PP along with a Silver Thread fluro leader.  Have for years and very pleased.  Double uni for the connection.  Good luck

The past two holiday seasons I've taken advantage of a major online retailer's sale to buy Seaguar Tatsu. I fill the spool of my Shimano Stradic 2500 with 6 lb. and it has performed perfectly for Spybaiting, casting an 1/8 oz. hair jig without a trailer and delivering a 4" Slim Senko to smallmouth.

The only other fluoro I've tried is Sunline Sniper, also good stuff, but I like the Tatsu a bit better (it's softer so it casts better). I'll pay the price for the Tatsu - it's the best on the market.

I agree 100% with Glenn on this one...Tatsu is the best fluorocaron line in my opinion but Seaguar InvizX is also pretty good line as well.

Yea Tatsu is the best in my opinion also, but unless your doin something wrong the Sunline Sniper is fine. For a leader it doesn't matter.
