I know this post may sound simplistic or childish to some but why does fishing always have to be complex if it doesnt have to be to have fun?.Anyway in my lake the fishing has slowed on artificials due to the heat weve had lately.The other day I thought Id just dig up some worms and fish some under a small cork.Caught 8 bass in 45 min.including a couple that were decent size.

Last night I pushed out about 100 feet out and fished like that again and caught several more-and another nice sized one.Im fishing generally the old creek channel where its deeper and cooler.Getting some bream along with them.

Before long I plan to fish all over the lake like that.Like brad paisley sang " No telling what I may catch..." 

Theres just something really fun about seeing that cork go under and feeling the weight of a good fish when you set the hook, then fighting them on light line.

Nothing wrong with worm and bobber. In my local ponds I can be struggling with all my expensive gear to catch a fish but the 8 y.o's with bobbers and worms on a Zebco rod/reel do well. Your right in seeing that bobber go under is huge rush.

For me I like the challenge of selecting the right lure, working it, adjusting and adapting to situation and constant motion of artificial.  Watching bobbers just gets boring, even if fish are biting. The same goes for minnows, they work great here but I find it to slow type fishing for me, but people that use them kill it.

I rarely fish when too hot due to slow down so I usually limits self to early am and dusk.

 

 

I still get as much of a thrill watching the bobber go under as I did when I was 6. Nothing wrong with it at all

I hate keeping crawlers alive and the mess they make. Nothing wrong with using live bait though. My cleaner version of this is a 2" grub on my ultralight just fishing for whatever will bite. Sometimes it's nice to simplify and get back to fishing just for the enjoyment of catching whatever I can.

fishing under a float. My youngest son was
getting bored fishing for bass the other 
week, so I convinced him it wasn't just about
bass, but anything that bites. So he used
the worms and slayed the sunfish.

He ended up catching a 3 pound bass that
day, too, but on a soft plastic...

I've got a number of long poles (no reels) for
this very purpose. Really puts fun in fishing.

I really want to try live shiners under a float in my reservoir. They're in there and fish prefer the gold color on baits so it seems the most natural thing to catch the big'uns.

you're right there!  watching that bobber go under is too much fun sometimes!
