split shot

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the weight of the various sizes of split shot?

B, BB, 5, 7 etc. mean nothing to me.

I need things like 1/64th, 1/32 etc.

c'mon finesse guys lets here from ya

i get the water gremlin bull-shots.  there bullet weight shaped so they come through veggies real nice.  water gremlins are marked with fractions rather than numbers.  i throw the 1/32 and 1/64.

hope this helps in what your looking for

I have used and sung the praises of bullshots for a couple of years.  But they don't stay on braided line well.  I don't know if the old fashioned round ones will work any better, but the bull shot, even when mashed closed with pliers, just don't stay put on 50# power pro.

get the small rubberbands used for braces, cut them so they aren't connected and tie it right below the shot, clip the tag ends and it stays on perfectly.

Thanks for the tip Mr. Senkosanta but cutting rubber bands and such is what I am trying to avoid.

I have a suggestion.  You are affiliated with tru tungsten.  Why not give them a call and tell them that you think there is a market for color coded tungsten split shot.  Seriously, they would be smaller per weight unit and if they design them to clamp securely to superlines they will have a winner.

git er done dude.

You Da Man,

Thankx dude

Senko77.  I re-read my last post to you and realized that it could be interpreted as harsh and sarcastic.  I sure hope you didn't take it that way.  After all you are one of my favorite runny nosed, pimple faced teenaged fisher dudes

Yes, thanks, Roger.  I needed this information as well.

Those are the only three split-shot weights that I know ;D

I've gotten into the habit of doubling or halving the weight,

and those 3 shot sizes, halve downward under a 1/8 oz bullet sinker.

I'm getting too old to mess with half sizes anymore ;)

Roger

Thanks for the question and thanks to RoLo for the answer.  I didn't want to ask, assumed everyone knew but me.

lol.  avid, no offense taken.  it didnt sound that way at all to me.  great idea on the color coded shots.

as for the other things...

1) runny nosed....????

2) pimple faced...correct but working on it...im using proactiv but i sure dont have the same results as jessica simpson

Having used tungsten at work (welding) I don't think that it will lend well to the split shot idea. It is not malleable at all. It is a very hard metal, so it breaks before it bends (noticeably). Novel idea though. Just think how small a 1/64th ounce tungsten shot would be!
