Spinnerbait/Swim Jig/Buzzbait Setup

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I have been using this setup for some time with moderate success for 3 different applications. Just trying to get some input of if I should change anything or keep going with what I have. I am happy with the rod/reel, but I have been considering changing my line to maybe a heavier Mono filament. Thoughts? TIA everyone.

H2O Xpress Mettle

That sounds good to me . No experience with all star rods but the ratings sound good.

For the money they're good. Definitely good back up rods or starter rods for someone getting away from buying combos.

I was thinking of getting a couple but they are only sold at academy and there are none near me and I like being to handle rods before I buy them.

Nylon or copolymer is good for spinnerbaits. I like the braid and mod-fast rod for the other two techniques. If it's working, don't change.

I have a very similar setup with a 15# copolymer on it and really like it.

I like the braid for swim jigs, but I prefer straight braid.

I'm a mono/copoly guy for the other 2 and would rather go that route for all 3 if I had to use the same rod for all 3.

I normally use a 7mh/f rod for the spinnerbait and swim jig.  It depends on the reel but normaly I fish them with braid.    I don't fish a buzz bait much but when i do it is on my squarebill rod with floro.

What kind/size would you use for all 3?

All Star Pro Series PH826C 6' 10" Medium Heavy Fast

I use this one to throw spinnerbaits & lipless cranks, it has longer handle which let's you get longer cast.

20# Fluorocarbon = shock absorption!
