Suzuki

Featured Replies

I just got the latest addition of Bassmaster and couldn't help but notice the Suzuki ads inside. They have a total of three full pages. The first is a Ranger Boats/Suzuki combo the other two are about their new Big Block 4 Stroke. They seemed to have just appeared out of nowhere. Did someone buy Suzuki or are they just making their marine precence a little more known. I've seen a few Suzuki outboards around but this is certainly the biggest ad campaign I've ever seen for that brand.

Quite a few guys up here use suzuki for their saltwater boats.  The guys I'm thinking of are clam diggers and THeir transoms are usually a good place to look if you want to see somthing that gonna last.

I have only seen a Suzuki on a Aluminium saltwater boat. But i also saw one at my Federations Jamboree and that thing is SWEET. Fast Quiet. I think this is, by far, the Most underrated and unknown Motor Right Now.

Looks like Suzuki is trying to let the cat out of the bag. Like you guys, the ones I have seen have mostly been on coastal "working" boats. Some of the lobster and clam guys are also running those Tahatsu motors (if that's how you spell it). I am assuming they are a little cheaper up front than some of the more mainstream brands. Over in Northeast Harbor where the summer money people are you see quite a few Honda outboards. The outboard wars are going to be fun to watch.

Tohatsu O/B's are made by Nissan Marine...they make a good car, hopefully the marine stuff will be as good. Back in the day when Chrysler made O/B's, the government made them divest the marine operations to get the auto side bailed out. Marine was the only Chrysler division making money. I've got an 85 HP Force from 1986 on my bowrider family boat, which is exactly the same tooling and casing as the '85 Chrysler, and it's still running strong with minimum repairs. The OB wars are going to get interesting; from what I've read, the competition to lock in boat mfg's to hang one brand of OB on their transoms is pretty fierce. It will be interesting to see who is left standing at the end of the day. Meanwhile: Advantage: lower costs to consumers .... Disadvantage: less/no choice in OB brand when you're buying a boat package from a particular manufacturer.

I have a 2001 Tohatsu 5 horse, 4 stroke. It ALWAYS Starts in the first 3 pulls, i love it!!!!!

I have a 25hp Nissan and I have been very displeased with it. It is always having carb. problems, I intend on trying to upgrade to a four stroke Suzuki or a Yamaha.  Suzuki is adding an extra three years to the original 3 year warranty right now.

I had a Suzuki dealer about a quarter mile from my house when I was live on Galveston bay. I looked at their four strokes and was very impressed. Great warranty and popular on the salt. Also a couple thousand less than a Honda.

Capt George here.....

Have a 19 ft Dusky down in Baja Mexico with a 2003 140 Suzuki 4 stroke..

UN-BEE-LEEV-ABLE!!!!!! Boat sat for over a year (personal matters) finally fueled up, connected hose, pumped ball and turned the key...it started \so fast it scared me....Plus the environment in Punta Abreojos is brutal   heavy salt air, howling wind blowing dust and dirt....wadda motor!!

18 miles  out    troll 6 hours @ 10 MPH (for yellowfin) and 18 miles back...

HOW ABOUT  10 Gallons fuel total use...

Any motor I purchase in the future will be Suzuki 4 stroke..

the Skeeter I just  bought SX190 has a 2003 150 2 stroke Merc...any knowledge on that engine????

tight lines...........

A fishing buddy told me that Suzuki and Ranger were teaming up. Don't know if this is true but the OB wars in the near future could be interesting. But personally, I don't like the idea of having to get a certain motor with a certain boat.

If it's a Suzuki 4 stroke, ****** it up...great engine..

bye-bye and good luck!

Capt. George
