  1. Tonight I was watching FOX 5 News and happened to see a very good segment called Wednesday's Child. This is usually about children that might not have life as good as most of us and only wish for the simple things. Well tonight's Wednesday Child was about a boy that wanted to go bass fishing. They showed him on the lake fishing and catching a bass. But the good thing was the person that took him out. He was great with this boy, encouraging and helping him enjoy this outing. The great thing was that the man with this boy was none other than Randall. I want to say thank you to Randall for putting the smile on that boys face. I know because a trip with Randall is all about fishing and having fellowship on the water.
  2. Good fish Randall. And you are not kidding about this heatwave. Got a friend of mine hooked on Varner. I recommended you to put him on a lunker and I think he is going to call you about a trip. His name is Greg and loves to fish. Keep your open times on the Varner post off fishatl's site. I need a trip soon.
  3. Sounds like a good morning. I like to fish that same run. From the bridge down to the pass on the right side then turn right and fish all the way into the cove at the long dock.
  4. Matt, I'll PM you theirs. I am sure they won't mind and even if they do. I don't care. lol GON or BassCenter ???? Does Charlie Moore still do his show? We are in the mix of future celebrities. Randall, When you say that dead hawg floating, did you think there would be another?
  5. - we'd all still be fishing zebco 33's Man I still have about 15 of these. Best bream/crappie reel ever. And still holder of my PB bass after all these years.
  6. That is a HAWG. Way to go Randall. And like Chris said, I remember the same comment about getting a new camera last fall. You are a dedicated trooper to fish today. I bitched about even having to take the garbage out.
  7. Fished Thursday at Lake Weiss. Left Wed nite with high dreams of getting them right before the spawn. We fished 8 hours and boated 1 fish. I did miss one on a jig but that was it for the bites all day. We even tried sight fishing with trick worms wacky rigged. Pulled the worm right in front of a bass that had its nose right against wood. Would not even look at it. Most puzzling thing was the carp are spawning and tearing the shallows up. First time I have ever seen carp spawn this early. Water temp was 63 when we started at 7:30 and hit 71 that afternoon. We even backed out to the secondary p[oints and tried everything we had. Puzzling day.
  8. Since you are going to use it for samll and medium cranks, you might want to consider the Chronarch 50 MG. I throw small/meds with mine and it works fine with 10# and I got them from Simmons Sporting Goods on Ebay for $209 +$6 shipping. They are now $219+$7 shipping. I usually get things from there in 2-3 days. http://cgi.ebay.com/SHIMANO-CHRONARCH-50MG-NEW-IN-BOX-BAITCAST-REEL_W0QQitemZ170023839190QQcategoryZ36146QQcmdZViewItem They will also take orders over the phone.
  9. Did the Platinum take the place of the Titanium line of All Star?
  10. Been using Zoom trickworms and finnese worms on jig heads for a while and have seen no reason to change. But have several new packs of Shakey head Worms by Davis Bait or something like that that are made for the shakey jighead. Cool color scheme .. Alabama Bug - junebug on one side, green pumpkin on the other. best of both worlds
  11. I have several all stars ranging from Classics to Team. The classic compared to the Bionic Blade and Extreme, IMO, are better rods. BPS rods are heavy to me and not well balanced. I hope for $300 you are getting quite a few rods.
  12. I have the 6-6 IMX with a Chronarch 50 Mg. Super light and will cast small cranks and 1/4 oz t-rigs a mile. Check around .. I got one from Simmons Sporting Goods on Ebay for $215 including shipping.
  13. I use a GLoomis MBR844C 7' H saddled with a Pflueger Supreme and 20# P-Line Halo. All the power i need.
  14. I am using 20# for pitching and love it. Smooth line and good sensitivity. I like it beter than P-Line floro but it is pricy and the only color I have seen is mint green.
  15. I have gone through the Sahara/Symetre/Stradic line up and think the Symetre 2500 is the best for the money. Agreeing with several, the Stradic is a tad smoother, but I can't see $40 smoother. So my last setup, I opted for the Symetre and put that extra $40 toward a GLoomis 6-6 IMX. Sweet setup for jighead fishing.
  16. I have 10# Yo Zuri Ultra Soft on a Chronarch 50Mg that i throw jerkbaits with and it works great. Now I am thinking to go down to 8#
  17. I have spooled a Curada 7:1 with 15# Evolution to fish lipless crankbaits and later on buzzbaits. I have only used it one time and i don't have any complaints yet. It has good feel and cast good, but then I was throwing a Spro. I will probably make my mind up when the buzzbait fishing starts.
  18. Maybe he doesn't want everyone to see exactly where he is pullin these hawgs from? :-? Inside information .. Start at boat ramp and go north .. whole lake is a hot spot
  19. Good fish as usual Randall. I need to be on Varner again. What days during the week do you have open in the next three weeks?
  20. Have the same rod. Very good spinnerbait and large CB rod
  21. I use a GLoomis MBR844 - 7' H for jigs and it works great. For pitching soft palastics I use a 6-6 MH Team All Star
  22. I have been using an All Star Spiinerbait rod for the last couple of years. Purchased it from an ebay store (Simmons Sporting Goods) for $39.99 + shipping. Cheap and specific, plus it does feel good.
  23. Well I can't speak for the GLX, but the MBR 844 in an IMX was just a little stiff for me with soft plastics so I had to have a MBR 783. I use the 844 for pitching jigs. Maybe I can put the bait monkey in his cage because I like the IMX just fine and at $100 cheaper.
  24. 6'-6" M All Star Classic with a Curado for up to 9' lures - Yo Zuri Ultra 12 7'0" MH Titanium All Star with a Curado 5:1 for deep divers - 12# PLine Floro 7'-0" MH GLoomis Crankbait rod with a Curado 7:1 for lipless Crankbait- 15# PLine Evolution 6'-0" M BPS Extreme with a Scorpion 1000 for topwater (hey I'm vertically challenged) - Yo Zuri Ultra 8"
